R.I.P Anchorman 2
Director confirms it's dead and buried

Hey Fools! I'm not one to ask for sequels at all costs, especially when the original film covered all it had to say, but in the case of Anchorman I felt it was a concept that laid ground for a few more good chapters; have a second film set in the 80s and explore that era, and then a third in the 90s where the aged reporters would have to comment on news about a world that passed them by. But as director Adam McKay previously indicated, Ron Burgundy has anchored his last broadcast.

Talking to the folks of Cinema Blend (via Moviehole), McKay confirmed that Paramount has absolutely no interest in it even with all the principals having agreed to important salary cuts, and doing it elsewhere would mean having to build it all from the ground up again not to mention re-align the stars' schedules. "You can’t wait for that or be in a holding pattern" McKay laments. "But, oh well. Maybe it’s for the best. You don’t need sequels for everything. It was such a great experience doing that, but let it stand."

The director however indicated the solid possibility of Step Brothers 2 which would see Reilly and Ferrell would become parents. Yeah, I'd rather see Burgundy knock up Christina Applegate...
