Here we sit at the yet another Prester’s Corner. With a week that hasn’t really given us much to go apeshit about there really isn't much website related things for me to rant about. I know you may have not seen me on the site that much lately but I can assure you that I am still here even if you really didn’t care at all. So lets get to my little rant as I am really making this shit up as I go, if you haven’t noticed already.
The only thing that comes to mind this week is the critical reviews of New York Press' Armond White. You may not know who he is or even why I am talking about him. Well he is the guy who ruined Toy Story 3’s chances on Rotten Tomatoes.com at being the greatest reviewed movie of all time by dissing it (I am so ghetto). This man compared it to Transformers 2 and said TF 2 was better. Reviewers everywhere are going crazy. Who is this man who loved Jonah Hex but hates Buzz and Woody? Truly, who gives a shit? This man has created a shitstorm which has boosted his hits as well as Rotten Tomatoes. He has made his editor happy and built a following, Good or Bad.
Yes, he may be an idiot but he is entitled to his own opinion even if he may only be doing it to create drama. Hell, I still cop a lot from Salty Popcorn for liking GI Joe. But to all you fans who are ready to kill this man for his opinion , I want you to look around your life and look at your real problems. Your mind now will most likely be filled with the same question mine did. WHO CARES??
Lets get to the pictures that made me wee a little in shock and some in pure joy. This first picture is from George Clooney’s The American. I just watched the latest trailer and he is quite fit and the man is still one of the coolest actors ever even when he is starring in a cliché Assassin find redemption film. Cool 70’s feel to the poster .
Our next poster is for a roman epic film The Centurion. This has Rising star Michael Fassbender as a roman centurion from the famed Ninth regiment that disappeared. I really couldn’t care because I am already there. Swords, Sandals and barbarians, you can’t do better. Also, you may see Olga Kurylenko’s boobies.
Now to some comic book related pictures because I am on such a comic book high lately after just finishing the classic graphic novels Kingdom Come and The Dark Knight Returns. Amazing achievements but I am not sure if this one will join them. DC demigod Geoff Johns has shown us some concept for the hero show Blue Beetle. I think the suit looks like something a real beetle shat out. It’s just too busy!!
More DC love with this picture of a billboard that has mysteriously shown up on the Warners Backlot. People are saying it’s the first look at Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern. Looks nothing like Reynolds but we are like junkies and any news is good news.
Here is the first official shot of Hugh Jackman in Real Steel which is a movie adaptation of Rock em sock em robots. (Can’t we all just get along). I am not sure about this as a story because the idea of robots smacking it out is no longer interesting to me. Thanks alot Mr Bay.
3D is getting abused more than Lindsay Lohan on a drinking binge and it is most likely going the same way. The studios don’t understand that they are killing it by making it a gimmick more than an enhancement of the cinema experience. Exhibit A- Resident Evil 14 or whatever is now in 3D. Woo Hoo 3D zombies and gore with a woman whose chest was not made for 3D. Dammit. Bring on a Scarlett Johansen 3D film.
This is a really cool poster that Fleetwood found for me. It is like a subway map but with the best films ever. I know you can’t see much but you may have to save it and then zoom. Or better yet download a biggun one here
Tomorrow when the war began is the first film from Pirates of the Caribbean writer Stuart Beattie. The man is a top class writer who deserves his shot. If you are an international then enjoy the aussie accents here when they are not used in a crime or crocodile film.
The last of the day is this first photo from The Rum Diary about a Journalist who is an addict and then finds redemption in Puerto Rico. Like City Of joy with Heroin and better beaches (actually it is really not like City of Joy at all). It’s amazing how young Johnny Depp still looks. He seems never to have aged in all his years on the screen. Give him long hair and a earring and the man could be back on 21 Jump Street.
Her are our trailers of today . Our first one is me being patriotic and showing you Tomorrow When the War began. I just want Beattie’s career to keep soaring. A Writer/ Director combo is special. They are people whose vision hits the screen with more purity and that’s what Hollywood needs. Less interference and more original stories.
The second trailer is of Sam Rockwell and Hilary Swank’s new film Conviction. This film has more Oscar potential than an Scorcese film starring Clint Eastwood and Dicaprio as an estranged father and son. Even though that will never happen this film Conviction has and it looks like Gold. Rockwell is an actor who deserves accolades. He is just too damn good and underappreciated.
