Cast Musings: The Crow
Only ONE choice for this bunch!
Hey Fools! For the last few weeks the staff here at the 'Fools got together to brainstorm as to whom we'd see best fit for one upcoming film or character. Sometimes we display dissimilar tastes and sometimes we all share the same brain (yes, that would explain a lot...).
That's what happened this week when we decided to tackle The Crow, which once-banished director Stephen Norrington his prepping for a reboot/remake/re-imagining. biggeoff went first, and his choice was SO good we all couldn't find anybody else to fit. We did come up each with a few more names after many days of cogitating, but our first choice is our still our only choice. So before dwelling into what the film will be like, here he his, the guy we feel should put on the white make-up next:
Norrington's talking lately about how he sees his new version of the film; he says he wants to really depart from the first 4 films and TV show and make it something different completely. Can't disagree with that when it comes to Wicked Prayer (Edward Furlong?! With Tara Reid and David Boreanaz?!? Please...) but then again there's Norrington's "artistic-freedom" take on League of Extraordinary Gentlemen to consider. Scary thought, isn't it?
In the man's own words (by way of AICN/MTV):
"The setting is the southwest — the Mexico/Arizona area — and an urban [setting], Detroit or Pittsburgh or something like that. There are two locations that the film is set. Its initial platform is in the southwest and then it moves to the big city in the north, middle or eastern America, and then back. The Crow itself is a creature in this movie — it's not just a bird. It's got a personality and a character. Not like Godzilla exactly, but it's very different [and has] a more active role in the story."
I like the idea of making the bird a "creature", which is much closer to the source comic. Plus, I can completely imagine Levitt getting into an argument with a big black bird.
As I mentioned, we didn't want to stick with just one possibility so we tried like heck to come up with a few more names. For Prester and Biggeoff it got a little easy, but I gotta say I had to REALLY think outside the box; actually, outside the gender, and I say why the heck not?!? Why can't a girl be resurrected and pissed and sent on a friggin rampage by Tweety's evil twin?
Presterjohn's Choices:
Paul Bettany-with a cool Legion style haircut and then the make up. An older style crow avenging his family
Jake G- Because I am not sure whether Disney will return to P.O.P
And
Josh Hartnett- because even though he constantly disappoints me with his so-so performances in every film I still have faith he has one good role in him
Biggeoff's Choices:
Scott Porter – Imagine dark hair and the make up. The dude would work well. I loved him as Speed’s brother in Speed Racer and I hope something big comes for him. This could be it.
Taylor Kitsch – I know it’s another Friday Night Lights alumni but he could very well slot straight into the role, it’ll depend on how busy he is with John Carter of Mars.
What about Jessica Alba, I know money might be an issue for the project but she was virtually there for Dark Angel.
Fleetwood's choices:
Diego Luna has shown an incredible depth and versatility in his previous roles, and he has that perfect blend of dark and sweetness.
Rachelle Lefevre; what a shitty thing Summit did to her! What a better kick-ass way to get some payback than playing a violent ass-kicker out FOR payback? She's fit, gorgeous, known now that Twilight dumped her and she's prime for the big time.
Moon Bloodgood; just look below and tell me that doesn't scream Brandon Lee?!?
Let's have it fools; what do you guys think of those choices? Have some of your own?
