Cast Musings: Magneto
Who would best fit the part in "X-Men: First Class"?

Hey Fools! Following the bombshell dropped yesterday that had James McAvoy become the new Charles Xavier for Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class, the core staff here at the 'Fools got together for a quick round table on who we'd like to see opposite him as the one-time best friend and future nemesis Erik Lehnsherr, aka Magneto.

Fleetwood's choices:
The proud Canuck you know me as often offers the same casting choice for a wide variety of roles, so yet again -and with many reasons behind it- my first choice would be Ryan Gossling. None of that "ethnicity" thing either, 'cause I got three words to say to that: Prince of Persia. YET, since I offer that name too much, my actual Top-3 would be:

Biggeoff's Choices:
BG's top choice might be criticized for double-usage, but Ben Foster is still a guy who's forged himself a pretty impressive curriculum of versatility, from playing dopey weird kids to badass beyond measure - his gunslinger from 3:10 to Yuma pretty much stole all of his scenes, even those with Russell Crowe! Otherwise, his Top-3 is:

Upon further exchanges, we established that one name they put out I had completely overlooked and felt would be an absolutely spot on match for the kind of story arc intended in the film - AND able to appear truly menacing and scary while maintaining a cool sympathetic attraction. That man, all three of us feel, should be:

What say you Fools? Agree or disagree with that choice? Got someone else in mind you'd like to see done the helmet? Sound off below and let us all know!
